Thank you for visiting!
My name is Pascal Saint-Clair and this is my portfolio. Here you will find many pieces that have been created just for fun or for others, such as commissions or for different employers.
The sources that serve as inspiration for the art that I create are primarily materials from the many science fiction films, television programs, American comic books and European graphic novels I’ve exposed myself to since my childhood. But above all of these sources are two artists that I hold dear.
The first artist is Geof Darrow. I came across his Hard Boiled graphic novel in 1990. Written by Frank Miller, the extremely high level of detail in this three part story launched me into developing my own style of art with a similar level of complexity. Unfortunately I did not reach a level of self satisfaction with in this new approach until four years later.
The second artist is H.R. Giger. My favorite pieces from Hans Rudolf Giger were generated in the late 1960s and 1970s. Definitely macabre and dark, his biomechanical visions also influenced me especially when I studied and gazed obsessively at all of the pieces in his published oversized art book Necronomicon, which I purchased in 1995.
Both of these artists have been the focal art direction for epic science fiction films, The Matrix Trilogy and the Alien films, both of which are also influential for my art. I presently strive to reach a degree of art that I feel measures up to the level created by these artists and every time I pick up a pencil to illustrate, I use this motivation to create.
And now please take a tour of my portfolio, enjoy and feel free to contact me through the contact page...
thank you!
